History: The Nova Scotia Provincial Exhibition,
incorporated in 1946, is held in August of every year. The
multi-purpose facility, housed on a 32-acre site in Bible Hill, is also home
to the Truro Raceway, Canada's fastest half-mile track.
The exhibition, spanning a 5-day period, is attended by
over 40,000 people. It consists of a major 4H show, dairy and beef
shows, heavy horse pull, light horse show, ox pulls, rodeo, demolition
derby, and daily entertainment. Numerous
commercial and non-commercial exhibits are set up for public access and
throughout each day demonstrations are conducted on topics of general
interest. The extensive midway creates a carnival atmosphere and gives
both children and adults a chance to try their luck or ride one of the many
exciting midway rides. The facility is becoming
a year-round operation with the gymnasium operated by the Truro Gymnastics
club and the recent addition of the Agri-Dome, which opened in 2004.
This latest addition is sure to bring many new events to the Exhibition
site. |
